The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers held their 2017 Leadership Summit in Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan.  The program focused on “creating the future” and included major announcements to make the region a worldwide center for the development and deployment of connected and autonomous transportation, including ships; opening export promotion offices in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Korea; and, launching a regional tourism marketing program to attract visitors from China.

Leadership Summit of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers

Québec City hosted the Leadership Summit of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers in 2015.  The theme of this summit was "Connecting Across Borders" and focus areas were Economic Development, Transportation, and the Environment.

Council of Great Lakes Governors Executive Meeting
April 25-26, 2014
Chicago, Illinois

The Governors and Premiers met at Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium for the Council of Great Lakes Governors 2014 executive meeting.  The meeting’s theme was ”Accelerating Progress,“ following up on 2013’s breakthrough summit on Mackinac Island, Michigan.  In Chicago, the Governors and Premiers announced a series of actions to further enhance our region’s competitiveness and better protect our environment.

Council of Great Lakes Governors Leadership Summit
May 30-June 1, 2013
Mackinac Island, Michigan

The Governors and Premiers gathered on Mackinac Island for the Council of Great Lakes Governors 2013 Leadership Summit.  The Summit’s theme, "Strengthening Our Economy and Protecting Our Great Lakes," included a particular focus on trade, transportation and water, and set a new collaborative agenda for the region.
