Mike Piskur, Program Manager
Mike Piskur serves as Program Manager with the Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers. The Conference unites eight U.S. Governors and two Canadian Premiers working together to grow the region’s $6 trillion economy and protect the environment.
Mike manages the Conference's work on maritime transportation, aquatic invasive species, and water use data. He spearheaded the completion of the first regional maritime transportation strategy and the first assessment of cumulative water use for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin. Mike also coordinates the Conference's public communications through presentations and published articles.
Prior to joining the Conference, Mike worked in several roles focused on energy and water efficiency, green building certification, and waste reduction. He has also worked as a freelance journalist, researcher, and political analyst focused on energy and water issues.
Mike holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning & Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and studied at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration in Budapest, Hungary.
