Chair's Letter

Every two years, our region’s Governors and Premiers come together at GSGP’s Leadership Summit. This October, Québec Premier François Legault will be our host in beautiful Québec City. It will be a time to celebrate our recent work and launch our “Agenda for Growth” that will help guide GSGP’s initiatives in coming years. As GSGP’s Chair, I look forward to helping lead this work to grow our regional economy and protect our region’s waters. By working collaboratively, we can accomplish more than any of us could independently, for the benefit of our region and its people.
Water is at the core of GSGP’s environmental and economic mission. GSGP continues to serve as the administrative secretariat for the “Great Lakes Compact Council” and Regional Body. These groups help to ensure that our waters remain at healthy levels and are available to sustainably use and enjoy. GSGP staff recently briefed Congressional staff on this important work. Our shared commitment to the Great Lakes remains strong!
GSGP’s projects on international trade, tourism, maritime transportation, and 100% fish help support key sectors of our dynamic regional economy. We are developing a new sustainable agriculture initiative which will complement these projects and further grow our region’s economy.
We continue to see the positive results of our cooperation. Thank you for the critical role each of you play in this success.
