March 23, 2026 - Walnut Creek Joins the 100% Great Lakes Fish Pledge

The Walnut Creek Fish Cleaning Station in Erie County has signed the Governors’ and Premiers’ 100% Great Lakes Fish Pledge, becoming the 45th signatory and first sportfish cleaning station to participate in the Initiative. 

“A day like this is huge for our program,” said John Schmidt, program manager with GSGP. “We want to maximize the value of all fish we harvest, grow in aquaculture, catch recreationally, or process in the region. Launching the sportfish component of the 100% Great Lakes Fish initiative represents a significant opportunity to redirect large volumes of fish byproducts into productive uses like fish leather, collagen, and fertilizer.”
