GSGP Announces 100% Fish Iceland Mission for September 2026
The Conference of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers (GSGP) invites interested participants to join the 100% Fish Iceland Mission in Reykjavik, Iceland, from September 21–24, 2026. The mission will include meetings with Icelandic companies and organizations involved in the 100% fish sector, as well as participation in the Icelandic Fisheries & Aquaculture (IceFish) / 100% Fish for Profit conference, which brings together attendees from around the world. Participants will also benefit from networking opportunities and logistical support provided by GSGP.
Iceland is a global leader in full fish utilization. The country pioneered the 100% fish concept with Icelandic cod, increasing utilization from a time when roughly 60% of the fish was discarded to a point where more than 90% of the cod is now used. The value of products made from each fish has risen from about $12 (US) to more than $5,000 (US). Iceland is now home to a strong network of entrepreneurs, equipment manufacturers, and NGOs leading the development and implementation of 100% fish strategies.
The IceFish / 100% Fish for Profit conference offers attendees practical knowledge on how to maximize returns from underutilized parts of fish by turning them into high-value products. The conference typically attracts delegates from more than a dozen countries and provides an excellent opportunity to build relationships with companies interested in sharing expertise and exploring partnerships related to 100% fish strategies.
The participation fee for the mission is $500 (US) per organization, which includes group meals, meetings, ground transportation, and logistical support. Additional participants from the same organization may join for $250 (US) each. Conference registration and accommodation are the responsibility of participants. The registration deadline is July 15, 2026.
