GSGP Launches Regional Shipbuilding Study
The Great Lakes St. Lawrence region has long served as a vital hub for shipbuilding and repair, driving North America’s industrial growth and supporting both commercial and naval needs. Now, the region is experiencing renewed momentum for shipbuilding driven by evolving US and Canadian national strategies seeking more geographically distributed industrial capacity.
GSGP has partnered with the University of Michigan's Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering on a new study that will help unlock the shipbuilding and repair potential of the region. Work will include identification and mapping of regional shipbuilding supply chains, and creation of a regional strategy to seize new economic opportunities in shipbuilding and repair. The study will be completed in June and will inform future regional work.
