Regional Body and Compact Council Meet in Buffalo

The Regional Body and Compact Council held their semi-annual meetings on June 13 at Buffalo State University in Buffalo, New York. The groups passed a joint resolution adopting an updated Science Strategy. Research priorities identified in the Science Strategy include:

    • 2025: Agricultural water use and water efficiency
    • 2026: Quantifying groundwater resources in the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin
    • 2027: Projecting water demands and cumulative impacts by water use sector
    • 2028: Tools for identifying drought and triggering drought response
    • 2029:  Updates to the Science Strategy

The Water Management Science Team also met. Recordings of presentations at the meeting can be found on the Regional Body and Compact Council website.

Prior to the public meeting, Regional Body and Compact Council members planted a tree on the grounds of Buffalo State University in support of the Governors’ & Premiers’ Great Lakes Trees Initiative.
